Course Description

We begin with a deeper treatment of Instrumental Variables concepts and methods (Chapter 4 of MHE), then move on to discuss Differences-in-differences (Chapter 5) and Regression Discontinuity methods (Chapter 6). Time permitting, we’ll also come back to standard errors (Chapter 8), a topic we may have touched on in Part I of the course last year.

The course consists of 8 lectures, delivered in 2-3 sessions per day for three days. As always, outside class, Professor Angrist will be happy to talk with participants about their empirical projects. Appointments with Professor Angrist will be scheduled on demand (though slots are limited). Questions in class are encouraged and appreciated – you should expect Prof. Angrist to ask you questions too!
